Kootenay Soap is a small,
family-run business nestled in the mountains of south-eastern
British Columbia on beautiful Kootenay Lake. Having been
established since the early 90's, Kootenay Soap crafts high-quality,
eco-friendly and vegan bath products at affordable prices. It
is with great pleasure that we may present to you some information
about these products and add you to our list of satisfied customers!
About Our Products
At Kootenay Soap, we take great
care in producing high-quality products made with only the finest
ingredients. Our
Soaps are made with pure
coconut oil, rich cold-pressed hemp oil, pure BC mountain water,
electrolyted sea salts (sodium hydroxide), pure botanical essential
oils, organic colours and plant-based texturizers such as poppy
seeds, sesame seeds, oats, millet and cinnamon. Our products
are 100% guaranteed to be free of any animal by-products, artificial
colours or chemical fragrances. Our coconut oil based soaps
form a rich, dense lather even in cold water. They rinse off
quickly and fully to leave your skin feeling squeaky clean.

Descriptions & Information.
Aniseed Essential Oil (Pimpinella Anisum
Oil) –
Botanical essential oil from the dried, ripe fruit of
anise. It is warming and can help relax the mind
and body.
Apricot Oil (Prunus Armeniaca
Oil) - Made from pressed apricot kernels - used
to soften, soothe and moisturize skin. Good for
all skin types, especially sensitive or dry, dehydrated
skin. Rich in vitamins and minerals.
Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) -
Added to the bath, it has a softening effect on the
skin, helps to make skin feel silky smooth.
Calendula Flower (Calendula Officinalis)
– Herbalists have long used calendula
to soothe inflammation of skin.
Cinnamon Oil (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum
Oil) –
Botanical essential oil obtained from the leaves
and twigs of cultivated trees. This oil has
traditionally been used as a warming remedy, stimulating
circulation and relieving aches and pains.
Cinnamon
Powder (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark) - Ground
bark from the Cassia tree. A gentle, natural exfoliate
and astrigent.
Citric Acid
– Derived from citrus fruits by fermentation of crude
sugars. We use it in our bath bombs to produce their
fizzing properties and to adjust the acid-alkali
balance.
Clove Essential Oil (Eugenia
Carophyllus Leaf Oil) - Botanical
essential oil
extracted from the leaves, stem and buds of clove.
Clove oil has powerful antiseptic and stimulant
properties.
Coconut Oil (Cocos Nuciferal)
– A white, semi-solid, highly saturated fat expressed
from the kernels of the coconut. Our coconut oil comes
from agro-forestry communities in Malaysia and the
Philippines. (All of our soaps.)
Cornstarch (Zeas Mays) - Derived from
dried corn kernels, it soothes irritated skin and leaves
if feeling silky and smooth.
Grapefruit Essential Oil (Citrus Grandis Oil) -
Botanical essential oil of the grapefruit, obtained by the
cold expression of the fresh peel of the fruit.
This oil is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and
detoxifying.
Grapeseed Oil (Vitis
Vinifera Oil) - This oil is made from the seeds
of grapes. Appears to help with skin repair, as it
has a mildly astringent and antiseptic qualities.
It glides well on the skin and has moisturizing
properties.
Ginger
Essential Oil (Zingiber
Officinale Oil) - Botanical essential oil of dried
ginger root.
Good for reducing inflammation and as an aphrodisiac.
Hazelnut Oil (Corylus Avellana Oil)
- This oil, extracted from hazelnuts, has proven to be very effective in tightening
and toning the skin. It provides a soothing and
relaxing effect on the skin.
Hemp Oil (Cannabis Sativa
Oil) – Rich in
vitamin A and E as well as essential fatty acids and
protein which soothes and heals dry skin.
Kukui Oil (Aleurites Moluccana Oil) -
A nut oil extracted from the seed of the kukui nut, or
candlenut tree; the official state tree of Hawaii.
Non greasy, high in essential fatty acids and easily
absorbed by the skin, it contains a variety of
antioxidants and vitamins, beneficial to skin care.
Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula Angustifolia
Oil) –
Botanical essential oil extracted from the lavender plant. This oil
is one of the most gentle and versatile herb. It
is antiseptic, antibacterial and promotes relaxation.
Lemongrass Essential Oil (Cymbopogon
Schoenanthus Oil) - Botanical
essential oil extracted from the lemongrass plant. This oil is
antiseptic, soothing and conditions skin.
Lime
Essential Oil (Citrus Aurantifolia Oil)
– Botanical essential oil extracted from lime.
Millet (Panicum Miliaceum) - A grain
that grows on a cob - used as an exfoliate.
Mineral Salts (Sodium Chloride) - Regulates the
skin's moisture levels to promote healing and draw out
toxins. Helps to release tension and soothe sore
muscles.
Oatmeal (Avena
Sativa) –
Mild exfoliate - effective, gentle cleanser for all skin
types.
Orange Essential Oil (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis
Oil) - Botanical
essential oil extracted from orange peels. It is very uplifting, stimulates
circulation, fights infections and reduces inflammation.
Peppermint Essential Oil (Mentha Piperita Oil)
- Botanical essential oil extracted from peppermint leaves.
Patchouli (Pogostemon Cablin Oil)
- Botanical essential oil extracted from a bushy mint-like
shrub from Malysia and India. It is anti-inflammatory
and antiseptic. It is appeasing, calming and
uplifting.
Pine
Essential Oil (Pinus Sylvestris Oil)
- Botanical essential oil extracted from various
species of pines.
Poppyseeds (Papaver
Orientale) - Seeds from the poppy flower - used
as exfoliate.
Pumice
(Volcanic Ash)
– Volcanic rock that is solidified frothy lava typically
created when super-heated, highly pressurized rock is
violently ejected from a volcano. Ground pumice is
a wonderful exfoliant.
Rosemary Essential oil (Rosemarinus
officinalis Oil) –Botanical
essential oil extracted from the flowering tops
of the rosemary plant. Beneficial for hair and skin -
energizes and re-generates.
Sage
Essential Oil (Salvia Officinalis Oil) –
Botanical essential oil obtained by steam
distillation from the flowering tops of the sage plant.
Acts as an astringent and skin freshener.
Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride) - Regulates
the skin's moisture levels to promote healing and draw
out toxins. Helps to release tension and soothe
sore muscles.
Sesame Seeds (Sesamum
Indicum) - Seeds from the sesame plant - used as
exfoliate.
Sodium
Hydroxide (Caustic Soda, Soda Lye)
– An alkali used to
make soap. It is produced by processing salt
water. All soaps contain lye to produce saponification;
the process of fat & lye mixing together to produce an
entirely new product - soap!
Sweet Almond
Oil (Prunus Dulcis Oil) - This oil is derived
from sweet and biter almonds. Known for its
excellent nourishing, healing and moisturizing
abilities. It is often used to treat dry skin as
it is rich in fatty acids, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, D and
E. wonderful in massage oils.
Water
(H2O)
– Our water
comes straight from a mountain spring next to our home.
Witch Hazel Distilate (Hamamelis Virginiana)
- It is a mild anti-bacterial and aid in
healing.
